This is a great handbook for serious and semi-serious cooks. It lists kitchen equipment that you should have (pro vs. affordable options), how to buy ingredients (like cuts of meat), how to efficiently chop things, recommended brand name items, and has conversion tables, cooking terms, emergency substitutions. It is quite informative even if you have been cooking for years and would make a thoughtful gift for anyone who likes to cook.
