The Gilded Rage

A Wild Ride Through Donald Trump's America

A grippingly intimate and heart-breaking portrait of the walking wounded who make up the base of the Trump movement. Desperate and angry, these are the men and women of the vanishing industrial heartland and the depressed Appalachian coal country and the drug-running, no-man's land along the Southwestern borderlands. They have no illusions about the grandstanding billionaire and his glaring flaws. But they feel forgotten and screwed over by the political, corporate and media elites...and they feel that Donald Trump, despite his flamboyant demagoguery, might well be their last chance for salvation. Part Studs Terkel, part Hunter Thompson, Alexander Zaitchik takes us deeper into the ravaged soul of America than any other chronicler of our times.

// But these men and women feel forgotten and screwed over by political, corporate and media elites \\ Nothing about feelings, Zaitchik, suggest you read David Dayen's Chain of Title and Ellen Schultz's Retirement Heist - - straight facts, dude!

I heard this dude in an interview and consider him, his writings, his OPINIONS, not thought out, to be fallacious and specious and lacking in serious cognitive reflection.
Now I'll explain why I suspect many are voting for Trump [as a protest vote]:
Inspector General Report states that the DHS is filled with crooks!
Inspector General Report states that the State Department is filled with crooks!
Inspector General Report states that the SEC is filled with crooks!
Inspector General Report states that the Department of the Army is filled with crooks!
Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera . . . .
It is 2016 and American new business is at the lowest formation in the past 80 years; new bank formation is at the lowest in the past 80 years; and, home ownership is at the lowest in the past 50 years - - so how did we end up here?
From 1997 to 2007 $23 trillion in securitized debt was sold, and between 2007 to 2009, US households lost $17 trillion in assets and value, while European households lost $6 trillion - - due to that selling of securitized debt!
In 2003, Manpower, then the largest temporary service agency in America, closed 1,000 offices throughout the USA and opened up over 900 offices throughout China.
The majority of large loans in the past some years have gone to major corporations for their stock buybacks - - not to new business startups.
Yet home prices and rents continue to rise, and an example of price drivers, in the city of Seattle, for instance, are: over 50% of homes in King County at $500,000 and above are purchased by mainland Chinese - - both individuals and consortiums; and, an influx of Amazon new hires, and since 50% of Amazon new hires don't last beyond the first year [they don't become vested in Amazon stock until they've been there at least 4 years], this causes a constant churn: they leave their apartments and the landlords jack up the rents each time!
