The problem with this book is that it's half truths mixed with pseudo-science/metaphysics. It literally says you can heal physical damage with your thoughts. And of course, if it doesn't work, the book would say, you just didn't have enough "faith". You didn't believe in it enough. Similar to faith healing. Now, your subconscious mind is in fact very powerful. It does influence your actions and life. But it CAN NOT heal physical wounds. It cannot make a blind person see. If that was true, there wouldn't be a need for medicine or doctors. This book is dangerous in a sense, because those who are unable to see between the lines, will be disappointed and distraught when they can't heal their scoliosis or nerve damage with their thoughts.

What a powerful book. I have tried some of the suggestions in the book and agree with the author that the subconscious has infinite power. Joseph Murphy stresses the importance of our thoughts. He says, "just as water takes the shape of the pipe it flows through, the life principle in you flows through you according to the nature of your thoughts." The author also quotes great thinkers both of yesteryear and of our time. He quotes, Ralph Waldo Emerson who said, "Do the thing you are afraid to do, and the death of fear is certain. The book is indeed a keeper."

You have to read between the lines. The idea is not new, it basically describes "the law of attraction" (think "The Secret") but in a religious way. The book is old (60s) so some stories he tells seem really out of date, also some slight misogynous notes. You can still get some value out of the book though but just beware the author was a minister and he just repeats the same story over and over with references to God and the bible everywhere. If you want to read a spiritual more scientific / psychologic book this is definitely not it.

the author was born in the late 1800's so this is nothing new, we just need to apply what he is informing us of and don't go back to the "old" way of doing things!!
Enjoy the ride.

Murphy explains how your thoughts create your habits and behaviours. Change your habitual thoughts and you create a new life.

If you are afraid of failure, give attention to success. If you are afraid of sickness, dwell on perfect health. If you are afraid of an accident, dwell on the guidance and protection of God. If you are afraid of death, dwell on eternal life. God is life, and that is your life now
