One day at the mall, twelve-year-old Clara finds a note inside a purse. The note claims that it is from a girl named Yuming that has been kidnapped inside of a factory in Beijing and is being forced to work. While scribbling the note, Yuming weighed her options, would the note be able to free all of the children trapped inside of the factory? Threads tells the story of the two children and their everyday lives. I loved this book because it was told from both perspectives and it helped me understand child labour. I highly recommend this book to anyone ages ten and older. The only thing that I wished is the story was a bit more exciting, some of Clara’s chapters were a little boring. Overall, Threads by Ami Polonsky is a book for young readers. Rating- 4/5 stars.

Overall, I really liked this book. It gave me insight into what life was like as a child labourer, and I felt like I got to know the characters really well. The only problem I have is I feel like it wasn't very realistic. To me, it seems like more of a miracle story than the average story of a child labourer, but I don't think it's meant to be an average girl kind of story. The plot is based on a girl called Yuming who is kidnapped and forced to work as a child labourer in China, and Clara, an average girl in the USA whos sister died recently. Clara finds a desperate note in a purse that was made by Yuming, and the rest of the story follows Clara as she tries to save Yuming, and Yuming, who tries to escape the factory she is prisoned in.
