Very violent movie, the whole story happens in the space of 24 hours give or take, with flashbacks to fill the blanks. Nice landscape though...

An unfortunate funeral dirge of a movie that not even Anthony Hopkins can save. Dull photography, dull dialogue, and occasionally over-loud music weighs down this very sombre, rather predictable film.

More like an art-house film. I really enjoyed it.

Unfortunatelly, even with such a well-known, extraordinary cast, it was still a pretty lame movie. Thought it was a pretty poor plot, but kept watching it, so that must say something about it, or maybe about me. For sure, the make-up was bodacious - whoever did it should win an award. I ultimately stretched my stars from a two to a three because of the cast.

With his young side-kick, a tough old guy turned into an all-in vigilante to help a bachelorette who was stalked and harassment by a creepy local thug in a dying logging town. On par with Michael Caine's 2009 "Harry Brown" but because of lack in complexity, other than the rustic landscape and the hope to watch a lonely old timer having his way with thugs, clearly not in the league of Clint Eastwood's "Gran Torino," John Wayne's or Jeff Bridges' "True Grit" and Denzel Washington's "The Equalizer 2014."

Just watched this using hoopla, the streaming video played pretty well.

Decent modern western, complete with the gunfight at the end. It plays a bit like Winter's Bone, where they are going from place to place looking for someone.

You know, I'm starting to realize that maybe Lester's right. Some people are just bad.
===
What if somebody finds them?
- Not up here, they won't. Coyotes, buzzards, foxes, crows. They'll find 'em first, and, uh... Take them to little bits and pieces. They'll be nothing left of them in a week.
===
Xxyyzz liked to think he was the worst guy around, and, uh... Didn't think anyone would go as far as he did. That made him sloppy, and predictable. Yeah. If the worst guy around makes that mistake, the second worst guy has a chance.
- "Second worst guy"? That's you?
Not anymore.
===
She might be my cousin.
-What?!?
Her stepd-d-dad's my mother's cousin, so what's that make me?
- Full of surprises.

What's that for?
- Huh?
Your heart?
- No, down below.
Viagra?
- No.
--- It helps him piss.
You have to take a pill to piss?
- No, I have one stop pissing. (According to Drugs.com, viagra also relaxes muscles such as those around the prostate gland to allow urine to flow more easily for those suffering from BPH.)
===
We could use some good coffee. And good anything.
===
As much chance as finding Bigfoot up there.
===
Well, if it's not me or Trudy, it will be some other girl. Right?
===
They're lucky they didn't, didn't get lost. Hund-d-dred square miles of nothing. It's like the bermud-d-da triangle, except for fxcking trees.

He'd have found you either way, that's life. If it wasn't xxyyzz, it'd be something else, wouldn't it? Cancer, car wreck, drugs, dope. Suicide. You name it, it's all... It's always going to be something. It's all in the game. Yeah. None of us gets out of this life without some bad stuff comes looking for us. Keep our heads down, hope it passes us by.
===
We threaten him with that? And he'll leave me alone?
- I don't know. Your guess is as good as mine, kiddo.
===
Can I use your bathroom?
- Want to take a bath?
No.
- You want the can?
Yeah.
- Then say so.
===
This is my fight, ok? Not yours, hear me?
- Well, it seems to be ours, now, doesn't it?
Why are you doing this?
- Needs to be done.

You're not wearing a uniform.
- I rarely do.
Then how do I know you're the sheriff?
- Well, I don't know what to tell you, miss, you can wait out here as long as you like. Maybe another Sheriff'll come along.
===
It's just not the way it works around here.
- How do things work around here?
===
What do you think goes on up there, huh? 50 loggers stuck up there in the woods, all winter? No women? There's just so much checkers a man can play.
===
I am not leaving.
- Why not?
Because, this is where I live now.
===
This ain't your fight, you didn't go askin' for this.
- No, she didn't, either, did she?
Maybe so. But, sure as hell would be better, for everyone involved, if she just left town.
===
He's like 100 years old.
===
I'll tell ya. He's thinking, he sees a young girl in trouble and needs help. Could be any one of our daughters.
