Split is supposed to be a part of a "super hero" universe that M. Night Shyamalan created. The series started with Unbreakable and is set to continue in 2019 with Glass. James McAvoy plays a man with Dissociative Identity Disorder, so essentially he plays a myriad of different character... Read More »

James McAvoy is a brilliant actor, and that is the only reason this movie has 4 stars. The plot is confusing, his purpose is equally confusing, and the breaks into metaphysical philosophy are disracting and kill the tension.

This man has multiple personalities and is a murder. I can't recommend it to anyone.

If you really like M.night Shyamalan you'll enjoy this. The idea was not fulfilled well; actors were good, story line was sad . I hoped it would be much, much better !!!!!

Excellent thriller!

Overrated and just something missing about this movie that it doesn't all tie in to each other.

It is more overrated that M.Night Shaymalan's rating itself. As usual MNS tries to hijack the plot to the metaphysical and the abstract, well away from the normal living humans. I wish he would find a way of doing things in in Sci-Fi arena so that we are clear of the intent rather than struggling eternally to figure out his symbolism, subconsciousness and alter-ego.

Good movie! I love James McAvoy and he does an excellent job playing cray cray! I have to say every time I watch a M. Night Shyamalan flick, I expect an ending like The Sixth Sense, but never get one....this movie is no exception, but still very good! Check it out!

Not bad. Great job by the male and female leads.

McAvoy did a great job of acting. Lagged a bit in the middle, some of the female characters were unbelievable, and a bit pseudosciency, but an entertaining flick, nonetheless.

Excellent acting by McAvoy. Taylor-Joy is outstanding.

Tons of quotes in IMDb but not:

DID P1 of 2:
One identity in an individual with Dissociative Identity Disorder can have high cholesterol. One. There have been cases where one identity is allergic to bee stings. The others are not. Are there moments where two identities can coexist at the same time? There are times when two identities can take the "light" or "the spot" or consciousness at the same time. This happened with a student that I was working with. And her left and right hand were taking notes in different hand-writings about separate things at the same time.

DID P2 of 2:

The differences in the identities can be dramatic. As much as the difference between you and me and every person in that auditorium. The identities have different IQ's. They have different physical strengths. One personality is a Russian weightlifter and can lift three times his body weight. Their ability to hyper-focus and have different experiences is astounding. Have these individuals, through their suffering, unlocked the potential of the brain? Is this the ultimate doorway to all things we call unknown? Is this where our sense of the supernatural comes from?
