I loved the quiet, simplistic text that leads to critical thinking and profound meaning. I also greatly appreciated the beauty in the pictures.

What do you love about life? Cynthia Rylant and Brendan Wenzel provide an answer that applies to all of us. Beautiful illustrations.

Rylant does a wonderful job expressing complex emotions in the warmly illustrated book on the purpose of living. It is good for preschoolers to High Schoolers to adults trying to understand feelings, including happiness, awe, pride, love as well as, sadness, depression, difficulty, fear and why it’s important to wake up each day. It is a good bedtime or Storytime book. The text almost serves as a starting point for further discussion about these topics in a heartfelt and positive way. As the text states, “Remember this: in every corner of the world, there is something to love," and this book is one of those things.

Existentialism for children! And beauty for troubled times.

Excellent story , like the free verse style of writing also .
This book I am surprised is in the YA category as an adult . and an older adult, would much more identify with the topics of the story. Teens don't know about outhouses, no electricity , and the other hardships of Ludie's life experiences . Great story but would like to see this book in the Adult section also . Well worth reading . Short and powerful touching story .
