"Ingrid Thorburn (Aubrey Plaza) is an unstable young woman with a checkered past of obsessive behavior. She secretly moves to Los Angeles to befriend Taylor Sloane (Elizabeth Olsen) -- an Instagram "influencer" with a fabulous artist boyfriend, a camera-ready terrier, and an array of new products and brands to promote to her followers. After Ingrid adopts a Taylor-made identity for herself, her attempts to prove she's BFF material are underway -- that is, until she meets Taylor's obnoxious brother Nicky, who threatens to tear down her façade. Ingrid Goes West is a savagely hilarious dark comedy that brilliantly satirizes the modern world of social media and proves that being #perfect isn't all it's cracked up to be" -- Container.

Is social media ruining our relationships? Does it cause extreme infatuations? Not such an easy question to answer. But this roller coaster of a comedy offers some social commentary when one young woman grows obsessed with an Insta star living the "perfect" life.

An interesting commentary on making friends in the world of social media obsessed people.

Aubrey Plaza is spot on in this film about a young woman desperate to make a connection in a social media obsessed world. It's the perfect blend of campy and creepy; while hilarious hijinks ensue, it is also a frank portrayal of social media addiction and oversharing.

This comedic/drama film is about a young woman who decides to move out West in order to be with her Instagram famous icon, following the death of her mother and many other unfortunate events. Although things start off smooth, they quickly take a turn for the worst as the two women begin to learn more about one another. This movie is a satire in many ways, as any Aubrey Plaza film usually is, however it did not deliver as many laughs as I expected. The premise of the film is something you can only really understand if you grew up in the twenty first century, and it has many stereotypical and cheap jokes. Nonetheless, I would rate the film 3.5/5 stars for delivering lots of fun entertainment. @The_Reviewer of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

A dark comedy about how people's obsession of being 'liked' on social media can spiral out of control. A cautionary tale perhaps?

In this time of the world where many friends are 'online' it does give this a real time feeling. People stalked 'famous' people previously but now they have a electronic method. After all how did the Kardashian's become so well known and yet not liked as well. That social network takes away the personal aspect and makes more people feel lonelier.

Wasn't to bad of a movie kind of slow and boring at times!

I liked this as a creepy, cringe-y dark comedy. What I didn't like so much was the "social commentary" aspect, which I suspect the filmmakers thought was important but for me just fell flat. Still worth a watch.

Aubrey Plaza and Elizabeth Olsen are really good in this quirky, funny, dark movie.

Painful to watch, and didn't make fun of the current Instagram culture like I'd hoped.
