"Ingrid Thorburn (Aubrey Plaza) is an unstable young woman with a checkered past of obsessive behavior. She secretly moves to Los Angeles to befriend Taylor Sloane (Elizabeth Olsen) -- an Instagram "influencer" with a fabulous artist boyfriend, a camera-ready terrier, and an array of new products and brands to promote to her followers. After Ingrid adopts a Taylor-made identity for herself, her attempts to prove she's BFF material are underway -- that is, until she meets Taylor's obnoxious brother Nicky, who threatens to tear down her façade. Ingrid Goes West is a savagely hilarious dark comedy that brilliantly satirizes the modern world of social media and proves that being #perfect isn't all it's cracked up to be" -- Container.

Is social media ruining our relationships? Does it cause extreme infatuations? Not such an easy question to answer. But this roller coaster of a comedy offers some social commentary when one young woman grows obsessed with an Insta star living the "perfect" life.

An interesting commentary on making friends in the world of social media obsessed people.

Wasn't to bad of a movie kind of slow and boring at times!

I liked this as a creepy, cringe-y dark comedy. What I didn't like so much was the "social commentary" aspect, which I suspect the filmmakers thought was important but for me just fell flat. Still worth a watch.

Aubrey Plaza and Elizabeth Olsen are really good in this quirky, funny, dark movie.

Painful to watch, and didn't make fun of the current Instagram culture like I'd hoped.

Call it a "Single White Female" for the age of Instagram. A lonely, unbalanced woman (Aubrey Plaza) who has recently lost her mother moves to California to stalk/befriend an Instagram star (Elizabeth Olsen) and her artist husband (Wyatt "son of Kurt" Russell). Plaza, whom I've liked since "Parks and Recreation," fully commits to the part and is able to make a pretty unlikable character both sympathetic and cringe-worthy. I think it wants to be saying something about social media culture, but it's not quite clever enough. Worth seeing for those who like their indie movies dark and a little off kilter. Ice Cube's son O'Shea Jackson, Jr. co-stars.

A disturbing dark comedy that can serve as a lesson on being wary of who you connect with and how much you share on social media. Aubrey Plaza is brilliant as Ingrid, a disturbed young woman who develops obsessions with, befriends and stalks other women she follows on Instagram. Many of the characters - including Ingrid - are flawed and unlikeable. Ever just want to see people get what's coming to them? This is exactly what kept my interest here.

The movie made me feel really uncomfortable, which in this case is a good thing, as that what the movie was aiming for. Aubrey Plaza was excellent as Ingrid, and Elizabeth Olsen was brilliant as always. Good reminder to always look behind you, and really be weary of what you're posting on social media!

Social commentary on more than one level. Moves a bit slow at times and makes its points more than once (but many people seem to need things repeated before they get it). Some people might not like the ending, but we did. Without ruining it for you, let's just say the main character may have finally learned something worth knowing.
