It is an interesting take on how technology and overall times have changed during the first half of the last century. This cartoon feels like a time-capsule and brings you through WW2, ration system, how the radio was a big household item being replaced by the television, when "going to the movies" was described as "going to the pictures", and watching the moon landing on TV like it was some boring thing to flip the channel to another station.

An affectionate chronicle of the creator's parents' lives, from their meeting in the 1920s until their old age in the 1970s. It shows both the progress of their relationship from beginning to end, and the many social and technological changes that arose over the course of those decades and how greatly they changed daily life for ordinary working-class people. Not an action film, if that's what you prefer; this is more of a quiet slice-of-life movie.

I typically don’t gravitate to animated movies, but this one intrigued me. I am so glad! It is so charming and heartwarming from start to finish. The animation is fabulous and so colourfully realistic. Based on the true story of Raymond Briggs’ parents, it takes you from the 1920s to the 1970s and highlights all the innovations from those times - from electric lights to washing machines to television, simply fascinating! Brenda Blethyn and Jim Broadbent voice Ethel and Ernest and do such a wonderful job of breathing life into these animated characters. Highly recommend this movie!

Lovely, sweet movie. Good history of the British class system and WWII. The animation was part of the charm of the movie. Well worth the time.

Excellent animation movie however the images of the two dead bodies (first the mum and then the dad) at the end scared my 7 and 10 years old children so you'd better watch the film with your children and be ready for this part of the movie.

Fabulous animation that almost is without comparison. The images look so real. The drawings have so much detail. It would fascinate even a man like Walt Disney. Bravo to all the cast and crew for a Five Star True Story Animation Creation!

As a small child in London during WW2 it bought back so many memories of the war. The Morrison shelter in the kitchen. The V1 (doodlebug) engine cutting out. The bombed and burning buildings. Food rationing and the Labour government.
I didn't expect a lot from the film, but I was captivated by it.

Animated fantasy of how the good old days were pretty darn good. Gave me a feeling of nostalgia for an age before my birth.

Interesting life story of a family. The animated colors and computer drawings impressive. Dialogue was hard to understand.
