A solid Paul Thomas Anderson movies. I have my favorite and "There Will Be Blood" may never be knocked from the top spot. But he always creates interesting characters and interesting stories.

Original script with interesting characters who found contentment in an unusual household of bygone years. Never felt bored and wanted more as the credit rolled, a tribute to the director, writer and the trio of main actors. And the deleted scenes and special features were amazing and should be incorporated fully into the released feature. The film would be longer but more amazing (See "Quotes" from the deleted scenes when Alma put on her garter and the spring fashion at the house of Woodcock.)

Beautifully filmed and photographed. The costumes are lovely. Well cast. But the script left something to be desired.

Had to watch this one for at least two reasons - 1) I have never heard of my surname used as someone's given or Christian name (or a female named Cyril for that matter), and 2) I have long been a DDL admirer. So what of it? Alas not one of DDLs best movies (sadly has been reported to be his last). Intense study of one man's obsessive behaviour along with his domineering sister, ghostly mother, and some strange need for a muse with "no breasts" as DDL's Reynolds Woodcock puts it. I doubt there can be any spoiler alerts as little happens in this rather odd movie.

Boring as can be. Without DDL good acting it would not even have been made.

At first this film looked like it could be a fun look at the 50's fashion scene in London.
Then it seemed it was a 'My Fair Lady' type as an older male couturier takes on a younger woman and remakes or at least tries to turn her into his perfect woman.
It is neither but It a weird tale of obsession and dependence.

I watched this movie for the high fashion retro setting and to see what Daniel Day-Lewis would do with the role of dressmaker, Reynolds Woodcock. Didn’t know what to expect. The movie proved to be an art house type of film about an unconventional (to say the least) relationship – where we watch Alma try to get through to the unreachable Reynolds. I generally liked this film and thought it was well done.

Marvellous marvellous movie.
Interesting fact: Day-Lewis did not want to meet the young girl (his muse) until
he met her in the very first scene. His sister , played by L Manville, nearly stole the whole movie.

A very strange movie about very weird people. It is well acted but way too long.

Many interesting quotes from the film have been posted in IMDb ... thanks to the contributors. However, the film left out some good stuff from the extras that are as memorable:

From a deleted scene:

I never really like myself. I thought my shoulders were too wide. My neck was skinny like a girl. And I have no breasts. Except my hips are large than needed. My arms strong. But in his work, I became perfect. I feel just right. May be that’s how all women feel in his clothes.

Special features: House of Woodcock fashion show

Ellie wears a spring suit in a soft fog-colored wool in a subtle plaid, paired with a built-in waistcoat of straw colored lightweight herringbone wool. The lines of the cleverly cut jacket continue into the lines of the pencil-slim skirt.
===
And now it’s the turn of Alma who wears a renaissance inspired gala gown with matching evening cape rendered in smoked colored silk velvet with golden Hurd taffeta skirt and cape lining. The bodice' s front slashing details is set off with strings of graduated sead pearls and crystal accents.
====
Ingrid wears a dinner ensemble suitable for casual dinners with friends or first nights out on a tropical cruise. A romantic silk organza blouse and silk taffeta skirt, both in soft azure blue, are contrasted with black wool jersey bodice, shawl, belt and handbag. The result was an inevitable loveliness from the House of Woodcock.
