Favorite graphic novel.

Provoked good discussion—poking holes in what's considered traditional masculinity and what makes a man manly and worthy of being a leader. Also had incredible cartoon-y art.

I don't often read graphic novels but whenever I had a minute to read, even if I only read a page or two, this was in my hand. Highly recommend! The art was lovely, the story was so well-done and it was a good reminder to be yourself. Always be yourself.

I predict this book will be well-received for its overwhelmingly positive depiction of gender fluidity.
I thought it was interesting how at the end of the book, the author discusses choosing to portray his characters as teens rather than as adults.
The dresses in this book were gorgeous!

Am I the only one who thinks the Prince acts like a jerk to the two women who like him?

Prince Sebastian has got an incredibly difficult path to climb. That said, in the midst of an argument, Sebastian makes a serious threat to his best friend Frances. He almost immediately retracts his words. But that scene still chills me a bit. I don't think the story truly delves into the consequences of Sebastian's actions toward Frances.

I also wished that the story gave a happier ending to Princess Juliana. Juliana, in her own subtle way, tries to move beyond traditional gender roles. She tells Sebastian that she likes him because he seems kind and sensitive -- because he doesn't fit into the mold of a traditional dude. Juliana then takes the initiative to ask Sebastian out. But Juliana doesn't get any points for that glimpse of emotional maturity. Instead, the story abandons her, confused and frustrated, at the end.

This was a sweet story about being true to yourself. I loved the innocent love story. The Prince's struggle to stay true to who he is without compromising his responsibilities is a struggle many can relate to. This is a really cute book!

I loved the beautiful art, the fashion and the characters. The main characters are confidants, understandable and not judgmental about the other. Refreshing story, where nothing is defined or labeled and I enjoyed the ending.

This graphic novel is delightful! Gorgeous illustrations accompany a beautiful tale of friendship and finding true self. I had to hug this book when I finished reading... it's that good.

It's so cute!!! The prince in this story is a fierce Drag Princess. The dressmaking in it - pulls me close to my costume design roots and has anyone cheering for the underdogs. You just want to hug the characters close, tell them that it will all work out - and luckily it does. This is a great graphic novel and it just tells a beautiful story - with LGTB themes - that is just another cute story, not a tragedy in the making. For anyone who just wants something happy, related to LGTB characters, this book will make your heart soar.

this book.

The illustrations are so lovely, from the way the characters are drawn to those gorgeous dresses! The story was an emotional roller-coaster, where I was giggling one moment and gasping the next. The end had me kicking my legs like an excited teen, and I'm so glad I bought this book.

Highly recommended if you like fairytales and sweet friendships.

Some days I look at myself in the mirror and think "That's me, Prince Sebastian! I wear boy clothes and look like my father." Other days it doesn't feel right at all. Those days I feel like I'm actually...a princess.
