Tries to do far too much and ends up paper thin..

Agree with previous review, great movie, it was already quite long but powerfully engaging and could have been longer and more detailed without losing any momentum I thought. And the character of the man himself, he was so simple, honest and engaging - call it wisdom - a high quality politician unlike most of those we have in power in Canada today, so unlike those who spend outrageously and travel with their extended families, playing to the cameras like movie stars but with other peoples' money, rather than developing sound policy ....... 'nuff said.... see the movie to see what it used to be like in politics....

Outstanding biofilm of one of the great American presidents, adapted from McCullough's first rate biography. Gary Sinise embodies the integrity and decency of Truman through years of his life, from early beginnings to the end of his presidency. The film could, in fact, have been longer, I thought, fleshing out much more detail, as it does feel somewhat rushed.
