I personally liked this movie. Many people think she was just nuts, but I believe TP 's objective was to shed light on mental illness. It is real and it goes on more than we think. I admit I did watch it twice. (I always catch something that I missed before.)
A cute little "revenge" film. The story had the potential for a rollercoaster of a ride, but the lead up lasted far too long and in the end the story just kind of dragged on.
Try the original "Cape Fear" film, NOW that's a revenge picture.
Innovative ideas and seemingly elusive dreams rarely fail to exact their price, on relationships, on finances and on well-being of all involved. There were some weak moments in plot and acting, however I enjoyed this movie and finally the revelation that lies and deception are not always what they seem as more serious character flaws emerge.
bad in every aspect, I really wanted to enjoy this because I love Taraji P. Henson's work. BUT this was just horrible and way to long it dragged on and on. I have admired Mr. Perry's work for a long time but what was he thinking? save your time and give this a pass.
Real and could happen (or still happen) in anyone's family, especially towards women.
This film is supposed to be a revenge film, but it really isn't. Apparently Tyler Perry didn't do any fact-checking at all with this film. A very bitter woman (acrimony's definition is in fact bitterness) who has a huge chip on her shoulder inevitably falls for a guy who has nothing going for him either. I guess maybe that's the attraction. He cheats on her with another woman in his trailer and she tips the trailer over with her Jeep. :0 She has a very bad temper. Yet still she marries him and starts tallying up what he owes her for his half of the bills. :0
I have a lot of issues with this film:
- No way this guy would've invented the battery cell with his limited knowledge and skills.
- No way he would've gotten $20 million for it.
- The family shipping business was a joke. No fact-checking there either.
- The female lead was hideous and so obnoxious no one would be interested in her.
- No guy who's been treated as badly as this guy is going to give his ex-wife $10 million out of the kindness of his heart.
Pass on this one. It was so laughable it was frustrating. There's one point where the protagonist's house that she inherited from her mother is under foreclosure and about to be repossessed and while she's whining about how he could've saved the house for her and didn't she's smoking a cigarette and dropping ashes all over the carpet. I seriously wanted the house to go up in flames just so he could say I told you so.
Bad acting, bad script, dumb idea. Pass on this one. I really wanted to like it, but it was a waste of two hours.
This movie was very excellent. It had a few interesting life turning points as well as some unexpectant aha moments. The Protagonist thought she was being played, because she surrounds her self with negativity and unforgiveness. Listening to her sister's advise when their life is not that complete or any better. Can you really love someone if you don't trust them ?
Not sure that I liked how she was narrating the story during most of the movie. Most movies have ocassional flash backs but 90% of the movie is a flash back up until the end.
Not much depth to this one. A bit surprised that TPH would accept this role. She is an Academy winning actress and this role does her brand no justice. The movie was a few steps above stupid, however at least it managed to shatter the early assumptions we made about the true colours of the protagonist and the antagonist.
The movie was surprisingly good.
