Haven't read Bush Craft 101 front to back. Haven't had many Bush Craft Books. I just got "Northern Bush Craft" today and it's much better, it has far more illustrations for each area. I think where Bush Craft 101 failed is that it tackled far too many areas resulting in sparce information on each area. For example Bush Craft 101 had 4 pages relating to types of tree's, whereas Northern Bushcraft has 4 Chapters on tree's, which makes sense for a hobby called "Bush Craft."

I agree with JamesLawrence. This book is clumsily written, and the smattering of useful info is lost in the confusion. It is a shame, since Dave Canterbury's knowledge is not in question - the poor presentation & organization fail to deliver effectively.

This book was not well written, and only touched base on subjects. The SAS survival handbook by John "Lofty" Wiseman is 100% better. I would not recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn the outdoors
