"In the wake of a scandal, the Montrose family and their three daughters -- Catherine, Lydia and Emeline -- flee Boston for their new country home, Willow Hall. The estate seems sleepy and idyllic. Don't get me wrong, I liked this. But I expected more magic and witchcraft from the title. The romance was believable (Jane Austen fans, you'll recognize some borrowing from P&P and Sense and Sensibility).

A very enjoyable book, where witchcraft is seen as a gift reserved to few, special women, and not the (obviously incorrect) product of a hard to believe pact with the devil. It is also a family saga, describing the difficult relationship between two sisters, one selfish and with very few moral scruples, the other generous and concerned about her family. To say more would be to spoil the plot, so I will just add that the story is interesting, flows well and we really feel for the characters we meet. I would not recommend for very young readers, though.

An enjoyable if not particularly unpredictable read.

A great story of a young woman and her family in the early 1830's that carry a lot of secrets and rumors that threaten there way of life. The story unfolds beautifully with suspense, intrigue and mystery. I hope she does a book #2.
