This is a distant adaptation of The Red Balloon (Le Ballon Rouge). I found it a little too long but the cinematic style really makes you think because it is so realistic and in a way poetic as well. It is such a perfect picture of everyday life and it just strikes you as being different from all of the other unrealistic, far-fetched Hollywood movies that are sometimes made nowadays. So don't expect any dramatic explosions, car crashes, guns, or vampires. There isn't necessarily a specific plot. Basically it's a "slice-of-life" movie. You could say that without all of that 'Hollywood action' it's kinda boring, or you could call it realistically refreshing.
