Definitely not what I expected from Cecily von Ziegesar. I am a fan of the Gossip Girl series, so I thought I'd give this a try. I found a few of the characters rather amusing, but most of them were kind of irritating. The main character, Shipley, doesn't even seem like a real person and comes off as very Mary Sue-ish. I agree that it gives a very unrealistic view into college and plays very high to various stereotypes (mostly negative). There are parts of the story that really drag on, using 30 words to descibe something when the point would have gotten across in 15. Nowhere near von Ziegesar's best. It seems as if she's trying a little too hard with her first stand-alone novel, especially since she's aiming towards adults for this one. This is something I probably wouldn't recommend to anyone else execpt for those maybe trying to find a quick and easy read to use up a little free time, if even then.
