A wonderful (if disturbing) summer read, this story chronicles the effects of one of the biggest environmental disasters of all time - the gradual slowing of the earth's rotation. What begins as just a few extra minutes in the day turns into seemingly endless spans of blistering light and bone-chilling darkness. Normalcy fades as people attempt to cope with the changes, and the teenage narrator struggles with her adolescence on top of it all. A mild dystopian scenario that bridges the genres of sci-fi, YA, and drama.
