VERY GOOD 1936 b/w film version of 1924 Broadway musical. It didn't work as good for me as the GREAT 1954 color version (one of my top favorite musicals, highly recommended and available at KCLS), but it was still quite good. I particularly enjoyed the near opening sequence which segued from opera performance to about two dozen mounties doing spectacular horse riding. Good songs, throughout - and romance, too. Fun/interesting to see brief moments of James Stewart in early role as brother Jack at age 28. Again, like Anything Goes film, it's a bit surprising that I'm the first comment.
