I really enjoyed this book for the honesty and integrity that few books offer with regards to post-partum issues and how the true force of having a baby can alter your life, good and not bad, but different. Like the character, I too, lost my mother before having a son. I love the excerpts from the book like "There is before the birth and there is the after." It is a truly, wonderful, monumental task of bringing another human being into the world. I love the writing in this book, reminiscent of "It Sucked and Then I Cried" by Heather Armstrong. I devoured this book even though it has been a while since my child was born. Getting to the "Nitty Gritty" of life, love, friendships and the power of giving birth and the myriad emotions of being a mother.
