Well, I have to say I didn't see that one coming! I don't know how well I can review this without spoilers, but here we go... This book was a terrific build on the first one. The action is amazing, the plot is AMAZING, and I loved that Kelsea is not very nice. Now that she's on the throne she is dealing with the question of whether she is a "good" person and whether she can be "good" and still lead her country. If she's bad, how bad can she get and not turn into her nemesis, the Red Queen? Problems: in the first book the author harped on Kelsey not being attractive. Evidently that is no longer a problem, but that's a problem. Second, there are some pieces of magic here that move huge plot points forward, but we are given no background on how they came to be or how they work. It's to the author's credit that I had no problem just suspending my disbelief and rolling with it. Sometimes a magic necklace is just a magic necklace.
