A surprisingly good, tender indy film (the biggest of 2017, apparently at $55M on $5M investment) and not at all what I expected. The first 20 minutes or so are a tough slog to get through. I almost bailed on it but hung in there. It got better and more coherent. Some funny bits, some amusing stuff, some tenderness. It's no Sleepless in Seattle but it's its own thing. Holly Hunter is great, Ray Romano is himself (is he ever anyone else?), and the two young leads are fine. I especially liked Zoe Kazan as Kumail Nanjiani's girlfriend. She's one to watch. Some interesting insights into Pakistani family dynamics we don't normally get to see.
