According to the UN Happiness Report, Denmark is the happiest country in the world. Helen Russell, a journalist from London, spends a year in Denmark trying to suss out what makes this country so happy.
Part travelogue, part biography, part magazine article, it is an interesting look into why Danes are happy. Of particular use to Minnesota readers is how they survive their long, dark winters- it was interesting to see the parallels to how they handle with how we handle it.
This book is not a dense discussion on the philosophy of happiness, nor would I say it is a penetrating insight into Danish culture. But it is a light read with some good information about how a society can create a happy populace. -- Cassandra J., St. Anthony Library
