Meet Maria Gallucci, Local Author of Raised in Silence

Join author Maria Gallucci for a powerful discussion of her book Raised in Silence, a reflection on growing up as a Child of Deaf Adults (CODA). American Sign Language was Maria’s first language and she will share how navigating between Deaf and hearing worlds shaped her resilience, identity and purpose.
Through personal stories, she highlights the unique strengths of the CODA experience—adaptability, emotional intelligence, and a deep understanding of communication beyond words. What once felt like simply helping family became the foundation for leadership, advocacy and a commitment to inclusion.
