Dickens was always fond of A Christmas Carol and the theme of generosity portrayed in Scrooge's transformation was close to his heart. He read from the book to an audience shortly before his death.
Divided into the musical staves of a carol rather than chapters, the story run as follows:
Stave 1: Marley's Ghost
Stave 2: The First of the Three Spirits
Stave 3: The Second of the Three Spirits
Stave 4: The Last of the Spirits
Stave 4: The End of It
