Palm Springs in the 1920's is the setting for this story of a plucky heroine, her dastardly husband and the much admired hero who sets all right. Add the historical background of the Native Americans who originally populated the area, mix in very basic cultural differences and then top it off with a sprinkling of old Hollywood glamour of those who came to play and you have the ingredients for a compelling read. Barbara Wood writes of strong women in varied settings and historical time frames. But it is not just chick-lit. Her books have a wide appeal and this one is no exception.

Combine the allure of the grande dame edifice of the Barbizon Hotel in New York City with a mysterious death, add in two compelling, strong and intriguing female characters, then sprinkle with the spice of the story line alternating between the present and the 1950s and you have all of the ingredients to make THE DOLLHOUSE a most delicious read.
